Location:
Great Lakes Atelier of Fine Art
810 W 3rd St
Duluth, Minnesota 55806 United States

Description:

Students will create a still life painting over the course of the workshop with hands on instruction and demonstrations. We will be focusing on “keying” a picture from the very beginning in direct paint, establishing all of the most important color/value, drawing and edge qualities in the setup from the outset. Patrick will demonstrate how he sets up objects to paint, and what he looks to put on canvas in a specific, yet very simple order. The second day of painting on wet canvas will be demonstrated on Saturday to show the next level of development of a painting. Students will leave the class with a strong grasp on representing any set of objects and the effects that they create together in a picture plane. We will be painting from objects chosen by the instructor and will make compositions that are simple, involving 3 items.
