Heidi Larson (b. 1964) has been heading up our Youth & Teen Program since it started in 2020. She is Atelier-trained, and along with her husband, Jeffrey, and son, Brock, founded GLAFA in 2016. Heidi always had a desire to help young people learn the basics of simple drawing, seeing, and painting so that they would be better equipped to artistically express themselves.
As she began to explore different methods of teaching classical art to youth, she became aware of The Art Academy of St. Paul, MN. The historical methods and curriculum they’ve used for over 25 years seemed to be the perfect fit for our Atelier (especially since 3 of their students grew up and became full-time students here at GLAFA). The Art Academy helped to launch our Youth & Teen program starting in 2019, and the rest is history.
Along with teaching art, Heidi enjoys hiking, cooking, entertaining, hanging out with her 5 grandkids, as well as writing and illustrating her own children’s books for them.
