Instructors

Jeffrey has been trained in the manner of the Old Masters at the prestigious Atelier Lack, a studio/school whose traditions and training methods reach back through impressionism and the 19th-century French academies.

Patrick is a graduate of GLAFA and is now an assistant instructor at the school. He is a believer that a painter is eternally a student of nature and of the great artists of the past. He hopes to extend this reverence to students, guiding their learning. He is represented by Collins Galleries.

Austin Jasurda completed his academic journey at GLAFA in the spring of 2024. Subsequently, he transitioned to a role within the faculty, contributing to the instruction of the full-time program.

Haley Royal is a recent graduate of the full time program and has been working with the youth program throughout her studies. She is excited to begin her position as director of the GLAFA youth program and continue growing as a painter and teacher.

Ben McGaffey is a representational oil painter and instructor. His rigorous training through the atelier system has led him on a course to maintain the tradition of aesthetic beauty.

Heidi Larson (b. 1964) has been heading up our Youth & Teen Program since it started in 2020. She is Atelier-trained, and along with her husband, Jeffrey, and son, Brock, founded GLAFA in 2016.
